Fantastic Year for Karate Exponents

Potton and Sandy Shotokan Karate Clubs had lots of cheer about in 2004. Both clubs did extremely well in their gradings and competitions and Chief Instructor Richard Scoot was lucky enough to train in Japan with the Karate masters.

The following students did very well in the English Shotokan Karate Association Kata Championships where the two clubs took home a tally of nine medals. Bronze winners were: Vicky Byford, Conor Green, Jamie Long, Marcus Farrer, Alex Lodge and Alisha Baille while Oliver Baille claimed the silver and there were gold medals for Simon Higgs and Lauren Cobb.

Farah Malik and Paul Hazelle were also awarded their assistant instructors awards by the English Karate Governing Body and the clubs celebrated three new Black Belt awards with Daniel Hunt and Farah Malik receiving their 1st Dan Black Belts and Instructor Vicky Byford receiving her 2nd Dan Black Belt.
