Members of the Potton and Sandy Shotokan Karate Clubs recently took part in the English Shotokan Karate Associations national championships. Students from both clubs came away with an impressive 27 medals in total including 7 Golds, 7 Silver & 13 Bronze.

Highlights of the day were the Team Kata squad from Sandy featuring Conor Green, Lewis Griffith & Thomas Ray who knocked the Associations Kata squad in the 1st round and went onto to win gold. Both Potton & Sandy dominated the Kumite (Fighting) winning all but one catergory, this was paticulary pleasing as chief instructor Richard Scoot runs the Kumite squad and it proved that hard work and dedication pay off. The best fight of the day saw Conor Green from Sandy fight a much larger opponent in the boys 12-15yrs final. After losing three early points Conor came back strong and totally dominated his opponent going onto to win 10-3, a very impressive win.
